hyphen MassSpec started mid 1996 with its activities. Since then, hyphen MassSpec has been involved in a wide variety of projects related to analytical mass spectrometry and LC-MS within a growing number of industries and research institutes. hyphen MassSpec offers consultancy and training by Prof. dr. Wilfried Niessen.
"I have 26 years of experience as a researcher and project manager in the field of principles, instrumentation and applications of liquid chromatography - mass spectrometry, including 9 years at the Leiden/Amsterdam Center for Drug Research at Leiden University (the Netherlands). After leaving the university in 1996, I started my company. Working as an independent consultant for six years, I was appointed extraordinary professor in bioanalytical mass spectrometry at the Faculty of Science of the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam in November 2002, which is a part-time activity."
"Since the start of hyphen
MassSpec, I have been involved in many different
projects within industrial laboratories, governmental institutes
and elsewhere. In 1997, I was involved in the TNO LC-MS Trainings
Centre in Zeist, the Netherlands. I have provided specialized
MS-related training courses for Agilent Technologies, Finnigan MS Systems of Thermo Electron, and
Waters, e.g., I was involved in Advanced LC-MS Courses supplied by the Waters European
Headquarters. My activities are available
throughout Europe (I have worked in Belgium,
Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom), but I also have
had assignments as far as in
Israel, Hong Kong China, India, and Canada.
I have been involved in more than 30 consultancy
projects for companies in the Netherlands, Italy, France, Israel and Belgium. In
the past twelve years, more than 260 courses were provided with in total more than
2700 participants.
Course are provided to private companies, e.g., pharmaceutical companies,
contract research organizations, and governmental research institutes. hyphen
MassSpec obviously supplies a want of many laboratories."
"As a specialist
in the field of LC-MS, I am a regular guest speaker at
international symposia, and have written several review papers. I
am (co)author of more than 140 papers in the field of LC-MS, published in
refereed international journals. The third
edition of my book Liquid Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry
(first edition published in 1992 and second edition in 1998 by Marcel Dekker Inc., New York)
is published in August 2006 by Taylor and Francis.
An edited volume on Gas Chromatography - Mass
Spectrometry was published in 2001 (also by Marcel Dekker Inc., New York). In collaboration with Dr. R.D.
Voyksner (Research Triangle Park (NC, USA), I edited a special
volume (794) of Journal of Chromatography A on "Current
Practice of LC-MS". I also edited a dossier on "Structure Elucidation by LC-MS"
(Analusis 28 (2000-10). Together with Prof. Dr. U.A.Th. Brinkman, I edited four special volumes
(970, 974, 1058, and 1067) of Journal of Chromatography A on "Mass Spectrometry:
Innovation and Application". With Dr. G.W. Somsen, I edited the fifth
volume of this series on capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry (published
as volume 1159 of Journal of Chromatography A). I am a member of the editorial board of
Journal of Chromatography A. I am the editor of Volume
8: Hyphenated Methods of the Encyclopedia of Mass Spectrometry, published by
Elsevier. This book is published in October 2006 and contains articles on
principles and applications of hyphenated techniques involving mass spectrometry,
contributed by more than 100 authors (over 1000 pages!)."
"My knowledge and expertise in the field of analytical mass spectrometry, especially LC-MS and related techniques, is on offer to solve your analytical problems."
